Characteristic for 1035 Steel /S35C:

The 1035 steel(S35C)  is made of carbon structural steel, which performs well in plasticity, strength and process performance. It has certain weldability and can be welded in the normalized state. 35 # steel is the raw material for many forgings, hot-pressed parts and cold-drawn parts. It has a wide range of uses. It can be used to make seamless steel pipes, crankshaft, shaft pins and other parts, as well as beams, screws, nuts and so on.

1035 steel, also known as S35C, is a medium-carbon steel used in the manufacture of various components, including shafts, gears, pins, and more. The following are some of the key characteristics of 1035 steel:

      1. Composition: 1035 steel consists of carbon (0.32-0.38%), manganese (0.60-0.90%), phosphorus (0.040%) and sulfur (0.050%) as the main alloying elements.

      2. Hardness: 1035 steel can be heat treated to increase its hardness, but in its as-rolled condition, it has a Brinell hardness of approximately 120-160.

      3. Strength: 1035 steel has good strength and toughness, making it suitable for a range of applications.

      4. Weldability: 1035 steel has good weldability and can be easily joined by welding methods such as arc welding and gas welding.

      5. Machinability: 1035 steel has good machinability and can be easily machined using conventional techniques.

      6. Corrosion resistance: 1035 steel has limited corrosion resistance and is susceptible to rust and corrosion in certain environments.

      7. Cost: 1035 steel is relatively inexpensive compared to other steel alloys, making it an economical choice for many applications.

Note: The properties of 1035 steel can vary based on the specific conditions of the manufacturing process and the heat treatment applied.

Applications:

1035 steel (S35C) has good hardness, good moldability, and excellent processing performance. Most of them are used in the original and quenched and tempered condition. Generally, it is mainly used for hot-pressed parts, cold-drawn parts, lever and nut manufacturing in mechanical manufacturing.

1035 steel is a low carbon steel with carbon content ranging from 0.32% to 0.38%. It is widely used in various applications due to its good machinability and high strength. Some of the common applications of 1035 steel include:

      1. Shafts: 1035 steel is commonly used to make shafts for various industrial applications due to its strength and machinability.

      2. Gears: The good machinability of 1035 steel makes it suitable for gear production.

      3. Cold rolled products: 1035 steel is often used to produce cold-rolled products like wire and sheet metal.

      4. Machined parts: 1035 steel is widely used in the production of various machined parts and components.

      5. Pins and fasteners: The high strength and good machinability of 1035 steel make it ideal for use in the production of pins and fasteners.

Note: It is important to consider the specific application requirements, such as strength and toughness, before selecting the appropriate steel for the job.

The differences between 1035/S35C & 1045/S45C:

1035 and 1045 are both carbon steel grades, with a carbon content of around 0.35% and 0.45% respectively. Here are the main differences between the two grades:

1. Composition:
1045 has a slightly higher carbon content than 1035, which gives it improved strength and hardness.

2. Heat Treatment:
1045 is more readily heat treated than 1035, meaning it can be more easily hardened and strengthened through a heat-treating process.

3. Weldability:
1035 is generally considered to have better weldability than 1045, due to its lower carbon content.

4. Hardness:
1045 is typically harder than 1035, due to its higher carbon content.

5. Applications:
Both grades are used in a wide range of applications, but 1045 is often preferred for applications where higher strength and hardness are required, such as shafts, gears, and crankshafts. 1035 is often used in applications where weldability is a concern.

In summary, 1045 is generally stronger and harder than 1035, but 1035 is more easily welded. The choice between the two grades will depend on the specific requirements of the application.
