Product Overview

API 5L X65 line pipe is produced by hot-rolling followed by thermo-mechanical rolling (TMCP) or quench and temper (Q&T) to achieve the required strength and toughness. Seamless and welded (LSAW, SSAW, ERW) variants are available depending on diameter. Sour-service options (per Annex H of API 5L) add HIC testing and hardness limits for H2S-containing service.

API 5L X65 PSL2 requires extensive testing: heat analysis, product analysis, tensile tests, Charpy impact at 0 degrees C minimum (often -46 degrees C or lower for cold-service grades), hardness surveys, and hydrostatic testing. Welded line pipe undergoes 100% radiographic or ultrasonic testing of the seam. Sour service adds HIC (per ASTM G28 or TM0177) and SSC testing. We coordinate mill audits by customer inspectors, third-party inspection by SGS / BV / TUV, and full PMI verification.
