Product Overview
Hot rolled carbon steel coil (HRC) is the fundamental flat steel product: steel slab reheated to ~1,200°C and rolled through a hot strip mill into coil at above-recrystallization temperature. With its characteristic mill-scale surface and excellent formability, HRC is the raw material for tube mills, cold rolling, profilers, and fabricators — and the most widely traded steel commodity worldwide. Manufacturing Standards
- Process: continuous casting slab → reheating furnace → roughing mill → 6/7-stand finishing mill → laminar cooling → down coiler.
- Tolerance system: GB/T 709 (Chinese), EN 10029 (European plate/coil), ASTM A635 — thickness tolerance class selectable (standard, class B/C tighter).
- Crown and flatness: controlled by mill automation; flatness targets for further cold rolling or laser cutting available to order.
- Chemistry: full ladle analysis on certificate; Si-killed or Al-killed options for downstream welding and coating.
