Introduction of AISI 1050 Steel /S50C:
AISI 1050 grade:
It’s a kind of carbon structural steel in AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) standard and G10500 in UNS (National Standard) standard
S50C is the brand of Japanese steel plant, and Japanese steel starts with S.
AISI 1050 = S50C, which is a kind of special steel and belongs to medium carbon steel.
It can be directly heat treated after processing.
S50C (AISI 1050 steel) is a fully static steel made by electric furnace, open-hearth furnace or pure oxygen converter steelmaking method, which has the characteristics of excellent workability and uniform metallographic structure.
S50C steel is cheap and easy to process. It is suitable for surface hardening treatment such as high-frequency quenching and flame quenching.

Applications:
The 1050 steel(S50C) is a medium-carbon high-strength carbon structural steel with high strength and hardness after quenching. The 1050 steel(S50C) steel has medium machinability, low cold deformation plasticity, poor weldability, no temper brittleness during heat treatment, but low hardenability. The critical diameter in water is 13 * 30mm, and there is a tendency to crack during water quenching.
Therefore, the 1050 steel(S50C) steel is usually used after normalizing or quenching and tempering, or high-frequency surface quenching and other heat treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is 1050 a spring steel?
Yes, 1050 is spring steel. It is elastic under quenching and tempering conditions, and can be used to manufacture springs and elastic elements.
The elasticity of steel depends on its ability of elastic deformation, that is, within the specified range, the ability of elastic deformation makes it bear a certain load, and there is no deformation after the load is removed.
Is 1050 steel good for knives?
Yes, it is. Since the emergence of mankind, one of the most useful commodities is the knife.
Different kinds of tools have different uses. The advantage of the blade is the quality of the blade. In this respect, the material used for the blade plays an important role. Most blades are made of stainless steel. Not all kinds of steel are suitable for the same function. What is important for each user is the quality of steel, the ease of grinding and the time to keep sharp. Among the various steels used for blades, 1050 steel performs very well, with excellent durability, ability to maintain edges, and ability to resist stains and rust. This makes 1050 excellent in the performance and aesthetics of knives.
In fact, 1050 steel is the first choice for airborne soldier knives.
Is 1050 steel good for cars?
Yes, it is.
Compared with other steels, 1050 steel is superior to other materials in terms of cost, applicability and durability.
Because of its hygienic quality, customizable shape and resistance characteristics, 1050 steel is widely used.
In addition, 1050 steel has very strong plasticity. After melting, it can be made into various things.
1050 steel has a strong advantage in the field of automobile. It is manufactured into various kinds of objects, such as plates, sheets, coils, etc. in the automobile engine. These objects can protect the liquid in the engine and keep it from being polluted at extremely high and low temperatures.
In order to meet this demand, steel, unlike other materials, 1050 steel automobile parts can remain intact even in severe weather conditions.
