Product Overview

Carbon steel pipe nipples are short lengths of pipe with threads (or plain ends) on both ends, used to connect fittings, valves, and equipment in low- and medium-pressure piping systems. Unlike full-length pipe, nipples are precision cut and threaded fittings sold by piece, typically from 1/8″ to 12″ in diameter and 25 mm to 3000 mm long. Manufacturing Process

Cutting: pipe is cut to length on lathes or saw systems; ends faced and chamfered.
Threading: rolled threads (cold-formed, stronger and smoother than cut threads) or cut threads for large sizes and thick walls; zinc or black finish applied after threading.
Galvanizing (optional): hot dip galvanized per ASTM A153 / ISO 10684 for water and outdoor lines; threads chased after galvanizing for gauge fit.
Inspection: 100% thread gauge check, visual for burrs/cracks, length check per lot; marking of size and class on each piece or bundle tag.

FAQ

1. What does TBE mean on a pipe nipple?

Threaded Both Ends. Other common codes: PE (plain both ends), T&C (threaded one end, coupled), TOE (threaded one end).

2. What is the standard pressure rating?

Sch 40 black nipples per ASTM A733 handle typical plumbing/process pressures (roughly 150–200 bar at ambient for small sizes, lower as diameter grows). Always derate for temperature; Sch 80/XXS is available for higher duty.

3. Can I get nipples made from seamless pipe only?

Yes — specify A106 Gr. B seamless when ERW is not acceptable (higher temperature service, critical lines). Seamless carries a premium of roughly 15–30%.
