Carbon Steel C Purlin — Factory Direct Supplier | Huaxia-Steel
Huaxia-Steel supplies cold-formed carbon steel C purlins from 100 mm to 350 mm web depth, roll-formed from pre-galvanized, hot-dip galvanized (post-forming), or black (uncoated) strip in grades from S250GD to S550GD (EN 10346), ASTM A653, and Q235B/Q355B. As a factory-direct manufacturer, we control the full chain — slitting, roll forming, punching, and packing — delivering dimensionally accurate, hole-punched purlins ready for instant erection on steel buildings, warehouses, and solar structures.
Product Overview
C purlins (C-sections, Cee purlins) are cold-formed channels with radiused corners, roll-formed from high-strength steel strip. Compared with hot-rolled channels of equal static capacity, cold-formed C purlins save 25–40% in weight, arrive straight within 1 mm per 6 m, and can be supplied pre-punched with web holes for service routing and flange holes for cleat bolting. We form thicknesses from 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm, with lips sized for stability under the span loads of your design software (SAP2000, RAM Steel, or MiTek). Every section is produced to your drawing or to our standard range — same factory, same lead time commitment.
Standard Size Range & Section Properties
| Section (h × b × c, mm) | Thickness (mm) | Mass (kg/m, t=2.0) | Ix (cm⁴, t=2.0) | Typical Span* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| C100 × 50 × 20 | 1.5–2.5 | 2.71 | 44.3 | 3.5–4.5 m |
| C150 × 60 × 20 | 1.5–2.5 | 3.43 | 105 | 5.0–6.0 m |
| C200 × 65 × 20 | 1.8–3.0 | 4.62 | 194 | 6.5–7.5 m |
| C250 × 75 × 25 | 2.0–3.0 | 6.14 | 395 | 8.0–9.0 m |
| C300 × 80 × 25 | 2.5–3.0 | 7.93 | 610 | 9.5–10.5 m |
*Spans are indicative for purlin spacing 1.5 m under 0.5 kN/m² loading with sag-rod bracing; final design is the project engineer’s responsibility. Non-standard depths, tapered sections, and extra-large 350 mm profiles produced to order. Tolerances: web depth ±1.0 mm, flange ±1.0 mm, thickness −0.08/+0.10 mm, straightness ≤L/1000, lip angle 90° ±2°.

Material Grades & Coatings
- Pre-galvanized (ZM/Z) strip: zinc coating Z275–Z600 g/m² per EN 10346 / ASTM A653; S250GD–S550GD yield classes. Best economy for indoor buildings.
- Hot-dip galvanized after forming: ISO 1461, coating 55–85 µm; full coverage including cut edges — preferred for coastal and high-humidity sites.
- Black / bare: Q235B, Q355B, S275JR, S355JR for painted or enclosed applications; supplied oiled or with shop primer.
- Magnesium-aluminium (ZM) coating: ZM310 class for aggressive industrial atmospheres; cut-edge protection 3–5× plain galvanized.
Manufacturing Standards
- Cold-formed sections designed to EN 1993-1-3 (Eurocode 3 Part 1-3) and AISI S100 (North American Specification).
- Strip feed to EN 10346, ASTM A653/A653M, or GB/T 2518 with EN 10204 3.1 certificates.
- Roll forming on CNC lines with online length measurement; punching per your hole pattern DXF.
- Optional third-party inspection (SGS/BV/TÜV) before shipment.
Applications
- Roof and wall purlins/girts for steel buildings, warehouses, logistics centers
- Solar panel mounting rails and tracker structures
- Mezzanine floor joists and partition framing
- Container and modular building framing members
- Ceiling grids and industrial racking bracing
Quality Assurance
Every order ships with mill certificates for the source strip, coating weight certificates, and our dimensional inspection report (depth, flange, lip, hole pitch, straightness, one report per production lot). Weld-free construction means no HAZ softening; hole edges are deburred to prevent coating damage and installer cuts. For coated sections we run adhesion bend tests on strip lots and check zinc thickness by magnetic gauge sampling. You are welcome to witness inspection or send a third party — our production floor is open to customers.
Packing & Delivery
Purlins are bundled in squares up to 3 t per bundle, with timber dunnage, waterproof VCI wrap, and steel strapping; nested same-size sections minimize freight volume. Standard lengths 3–12 m (cut to length ±3 mm on request); 20/40 ft container loading plans provided with every quotation. Lead time: 10–20 days for standard profiles after drawing approval; export documentation includes packing list, invoice, certificates, and HS classification support.
