Product Overview
65Mn is the Chinese GB/T standard designation for a widely used spring and blade steel. It is equivalent or similar to SAE 1065, DIN 1.0904 and Japanese SUP6 in composition and properties, although exact equivalence should always be confirmed by mill test certificate. The material is normally supplied in the annealed, cold-rolled or quenched-and-tempered condition, depending on the end application.

Manufacturing Process
65Mn strip is produced by continuous casting, hot rolling, pickling, cold rolling and annealing. For spring applications, the strip is often quenched and tempered to achieve the required hardness and elasticity. Edge conditioning is done by slitting or shaving to remove cracks and improve fatigue life. Surface quality is controlled through descaling, pickling and protective oiling.

FAQ
Can 65Mn strip be used for knife blades?
Yes, in the quenched and tempered condition it can be used for simple blades, saws and cutting tools. For premium knives, alloy tool steels such as 9Cr18MoV or D2 are preferred.
What is the minimum order quantity?
For standard thickness and width, MOQ is usually 3 – 5 tonnes. For custom slitting or special heat treatment, MOQ may be 10 tonnes or more.
How should 65Mn strip be stored?
Store in a dry warehouse away from moisture and salt air. If stored outdoors, keep coils elevated and covered. Apply additional rust-preventive oil for long-term storage.
