1045 steel plate is a medium-carbon steel (AISI/SAE 1045, ~0.45% C) prized for the balance of strength, machinability, and heat-treatment response. It is the plate-of-choice for machine parts that need more strength than low-carbon plate can offer — yet must still be machined economically.
