Project Use Cases & Tolerance Notes
Carbon steel C-channel is widely used as secondary structural framing in industrial buildings, as purlin and girt sections in pre-engineered metal buildings, as equipment-support brackets in mechanical rooms, as conduit and cable-tray support in electrical installations, and as trailer and chassis cross-members in transport. Standard mill length is 6 m or 12 m; we can also supply custom cut lengths from 2 m to 18 m with a small cut-to-length surcharge. For very long spans or heavy-load applications, the parallel-flange channel (PFC) is often more efficient than the traditional tapered-flange channel, but the C-channel wins on price per kilogram and on immediate availability from stock.
Dimensional tolerances follow EN 10279 (tapered-flange channels) or ASTM A6 (American practice). Out-of-square tolerance is 2.0% of flange width for tapered channels; web off-centre max 2.0 mm for sizes up to 100 mm. Camber and sweep are 0.2% of length max. Standard mill test certificate is EN 10204 3.1; 3.2 certificates from SGS / BV / TÜV / LR are available on request. Each bundle is banded with steel strapping, protected with plastic end-caps, and shipped on wooden dunnage or in bulk. Long-haul sea-freight containers are lined with desiccant bags to prevent condensation staining, and export packaging complies with ISPM 15 for wooden dunnage.
