Carbon Steel Pipe Cross — Factory Direct Supplier | Huaxia-Steel
Huaxia-Steel supplies carbon steel pipe crosses (four-way fittings) in equal and reducing configurations, seamless and welded, from ½” to 48″ in SCH 10 through SCH 160, to ASTM A234 WPB, ASME B16.9, MSS SP-75, and EN 10253-2. Crosses split flow into four directions at a single node — the compact alternative to two tees where layout space, weld count, or pressure-drop design demands it.
Product Overview
A pipe cross is a four-outlet fitting with all branches perpendicular to each other, sharing a common center point. Equal crosses maintain one size on all four outlets; reducing crosses take a smaller size on one or both branch outlets. Production method follows size and schedule: seamless crosses are hot-formed from forged or extruded barrels, welded crosses are fabricated from plate with longitudinal and branch welds, and heavy-wall crosses for high-pressure manifolds are machined from solid forgings. Every fitting is beveled for butt welding, heat treated per grade requirements, and inspected for wall thickness, branch alignment, and surface integrity before dispatch.

Reference Dimensions (Equal Crosses, ASME B16.9)
| NPS | OD (mm) | Center-to-run A (mm, SCH 40 basis) | Approx. weight (kg, STD) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2″ | 60.3 | 51 | 2.2 |
| 4″ | 114.3 | 64 | 6.1 |
| 6″ | 168.3 | 76 | 12.6 |

| 12″ | 323.9 | 114 | 45.7 |
| 16″ | 406.4 | 127 | 77.0 |
| 24″ | 609.6 | 152 | 164.0 |
Tolerances per ASME B16.9: outside diameter +1.6/−0.8 mm at NPS 6 and below (scales with size for larger fittings), center-to-end ±2 mm for small sizes up to ±5 mm above NPS 24, and minimum wall not less than 87.5% of nominal. Reducing crosses follow the dimensional rules of the largest outlet with branch dimensions per the reducing tables.

Manufacturing Standards and Quality Assurance
Production runs under ISO 9001 with ASME B16.9 dimensional control. Chemical and mechanical testing follows the material specification on each heat; hot-formed seamless crosses receive normalizing where required by grade or schedule, and all fittings undergo end-bevel machining to the standard compound bevel. Inspection includes: ultrasonic wall thickness measurement at four quadrants per outlet, visual and magnetic particle (or penetrant) examination of hot-formed surfaces and weld seams on welded types, dimensional verification of center-to-end, out-of-roundness, and branch squareness, and hardness testing where project specifications demand. Certificates are issued to EN 10204 3.1, with 3.2 third-party witness (TUV, BV, SGS) available on request. Markings cover grade, size, schedule, heat number, and manufacturer’s mark.
Applications
- Manifold headers distributing flow to four parallel circuits
- Firewater and sprinkler ring networks with cross take-offs
- Compressor and pump station suction/discharge nodes
- Pig launcher/receiver piping assemblies
- Structural tube connections in space-frame construction
Packing and Shipping
Crosses are packed in plywood cases or steel-banded pallets with bevel protectors on every outlet, seaworthy export wrapping, and itemized packing lists mapped to heat numbers. Large-diameter welded crosses ship on cradles to protect branch alignment. We consolidate mixed fitting orders (elbows, tees, crosses, reducers) into single shipments to reduce freight cost and customs handling.
