Carbon Steel Weldolet — Factory Direct Supplier | Huaxia-Steel
Huaxia-Steel supplies carbon steel weldolets (branch outlet fittings) to MSS SP-97 in sizes from ½" to 36" run pipe with outlet connections from ½" to 30", manufactured from ASTM A105 and A350 LF2 forgings. Every weldolet is delivered with heat-number traceability, EN 10204 3.1 certification and full dimensional inspection against the standard’s tolerances, with third-party inspection available on request. Weldolets are the most widely used reinforced branch fitting: they weld onto the run pipe like a flange face, provide a smooth transition to the branch line, and are available in butt-weld, socket-weld and threaded outlet types to match any piping class.
Product Overview
A weldolet reinforces a branch connection without the cost and layout penalty of a full tee. The fitting’s contoured body matches the run pipe’s outside diameter, its seat is beveled for a full-penetration butt weld, and its outlet end mates with standard pipe, flanges or valves. Because the reinforcement is integral to the fitting, designers avoid the calculation and fabrication burden of a pad-reinforced branch while keeping a compact, drainable, fully inspectable joint. Our weldolets cover all run sizes with matched outlet schedules — including reducing and extra-heavy combinations — and are supplied with the body marking, heat number and MSS SP-97 traceability required by ASME B31.1 power piping and B31.3 process piping designs.

Dimension A (the fitting’s height from run pipe surface to outlet end) varies with run and outlet schedule; our catalog gives exact A-values for every run/outlet/schedule combination and each weldolet is supplied with the bevel land and root face per ASME B16.25 for field fit-up without grinding. For threaded and socket-weld outlets, bore and thread dimensions follow ASME B16.11 class 3000/6000/9000.
Available Grades and Materials
- ASTM A105: standard carbon steel forging for ambient service, the default for process plants.
- ASTM A350 LF2: Charpy-tested at −46 °C for low-temperature and arctic service.
- ASTM A694 F52–F70: high-yield grades matching API 5L line pipe on transmountain pipelines.
- Anti-corrosion options: hot-dip galvanizing, epoxy or 3LPE field-joint coating on request.
Manufacturing Standards and Quality Assurance
Weldolets are closed-die forged from clean continuous-cast billets, normalized (or normalized-plus-tempered for LF2), and 100 % dimensionally gauged. Standard QA includes hardness testing per heat, surface magnetic-particle inspection on demand, and ultrasonic spot checks on heavy sections. Each shipment carries EN 10204 3.1 certification listing chemistry, mechanicals and heat treatment; EN 10204 3.2 with SGS/BV/TUV witness is available for export projects. Marking includes manufacturer’s symbol, grade, size designation and heat number, stamped low-stress so the fitting surface stays weldable.
Applications
- Process piping branch connections in refineries, petrochemical and gas plants
- Power plant main steam and feedwater take-offs (B31.1)
- Pipeline headers, drain and vent connections, pig launcher fittings
- Firewater, cooling water and utility headers where tees are uneconomical
Selection Notes: Choosing the Outlet Type
Butt-weld outlets (weldolets proper) are the first choice for new construction: they are radiographable, full-strength, and compatible with hydrotest requirements in B31.3. Threaded outlets speed up maintenance work and cold-field tie-ins where welding on the live line is not possible, but they should be limited to services where crevice corrosion and vibration are not concerns — always specify seal welding of the threaded joint where the design allows. Socket-weld outlets sit between the two, giving positive alignment for small-bore lines up to NPS 4 with simpler fit-up than a butt weld. When ordering, confirm the outlet pressure class matches your branch valve and flange rating, and tell us the run pipe schedule: the fitting’s contour must match the run OD, and an SCH 10 run with an SCH 80 contour will not sit flush, which is the most common cause of site fit-up rework.
Packaging and Delivery
Standard export packaging is wooden crates or pallets with plastic-lined, bevel-protective separation; threaded outlets ship with thread protectors. Typical stock items (A105, common run/outlet combinations) ship within 3–7 days; forged-to-order sizes run 25–35 days. We mark each crate with PO number, item list and gross/net weight, and provide packing-list documentation matching your warehouse receiving format.
